Roger T. Roepke
Born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area, Roger graduated from California State University, Chico, in 1984 with a degree in Civil Engineering. His work experience covers a wide range of engineering endeavors, ranging from structural engineering with the Public Health Services in Spokane, Washington to the planning and development of some of the largest planned communities in western Nevada. He enjoys working in scales big and small, and brings to his position an environmental sensibility backed by solid experience; hanging up his own shingle in 2000 has allowed Roger to challenge himself not only with a full slate of traditional projects, but to also pursue his enthusiasm for alternative building techniques - his resume includes a decade of work with straw bale, Rastra, ICP's, SIP's, rammed earth, log homes and extensive training in passive solar design. Roger enjoys humanitarian work in the post-Katrina effort with Architecture for Humanity and works with the group engineer innovative and affordable housing for the region. He is currently licensed in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, California, and Mississippi.

About Our Name
The Black Rock Desert in northwest Nevada is the inspiration for the name of our company. Bicycling is a passion for Roger. After crossing the Black Rock Desert on bicycle by moonlight with another intrepid engineer and seeing his totem, Black Rock became our name.
